R-134a (1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane) is a clear, colorless gas with a faint ethereal odor. As a non-ozone-depleting, environmentally safer single component HFC refrigerant, it is a very efficient and safe replacement for R-12 in several air-conditioning and refrigeration applications.
